Software Engineering Internships Academic Year 2025-2026

Academic Year Recruitment Timeline: 

April 21 May 9: Applications Open (may close early due to applicant volume) 

Early May Mid June: First round video interviews  

Mid June Mid July: Second round interviews 

Throughout July: Selected candidates receive offers 

Academic Year Internship Program:

• Time Commitment: 1624 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

Operations & Technology: (O&T) is a $1B operating cash flow $1.5B FCF) division of NBCUniversal. The group functions as a global shared service within NBCUniversal performing critical functions including Media Broadcast and Studio Operations & Production Content Supply Chain Information Technology and Engineering as well as Cyber Security. The group operates from numerous locations around the world including New York New Jersey Los Angeles Denver Connecticut and London.    

Areas of placement may include but are not limited to: 
  

• Corp Tech Data & Analytics Engineering: The Corp Tech Data and Analytics Engineering team is responsible for building and supporting all Data and Analytics solutions for Financial Services and HCM operations at NBCUniversal. This team supports all divisions of NBCU and provides the intern with the opportunity to observe the entire operations of NBCU as a unified entity. Additionally the team consolidates financial data across corporate and divisional levels. By collaborating with this team the intern gains valuable exposure to the back operations of a large organization. 

• Business Technology Platform Engineering: We are the SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) team. This is a Horizontal team that manages Integration and Cloud applications related to SAP. The intern will support writing & integrating source and target using SAP CPI platform as well as automating certain business process steps. 

• GND Network Ops & WiFi: Our small group manages and maintains the NBCU WiFi infrastructure around the company. Were part of the greater global network team of about 60 engineers and operational staff around the company. There are 2 employees in LA and 2 in NYC. Network engineers in general are located mostly in LA NYC and the UK. There are a few smaller groups within Denver Stamford and Miami and many more that are fully remote. The WiFi team manages all global NBCU properties except for UDX. The intern will support automating and making dashboards to help monitor the WiFi network better. 

• GND Automation & Reliability: Although were in the Network organization our team is more on the DevOps/Software side of Engineering because our primary focus is developing software which includes both frontend and backend development to enable the Network Engineering community to engineer deploy and operate the network fleet at scale. The intern will assist the team in developing our frontend UI as well as backend code architecture! 

Qualifications :

Basic Requirements: 

• Must be actively enrolled in a degreegranting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2025 through April 2026. December 2025 graduates are not eligible for ourAcademic Year Internship Program. 
• Current class standing of sophomore or above 30 credits). 
• Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future toretain authorization to work in the United States. 
• Must be available to work 1624 hours per week from September 15 2025 April 17 2026.  
• Must be working from a location within a U.S. state during all hours worked. 

For further clarification candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F1 CPT F1 OPT J1 M1 are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.  

NBCUniversal is an EVerify company requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.   

Desired Characteristics: 

• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred. 
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 
• Coding experience in SQL and Python and an understanding of AWS AZURE data clouds. 
• Good knowledge of data and understanding of data elements. 
• Networking skills good understanding of Windows 10/11 Linux and/or MacOS. programming skills help. 
• Familiarity with Arduino Raspberry pi is a plus. 
• Experience with databases or TSDB (timeseries databases) and data collection with APIs or GRPC etc. is a great plus! 
• Languages: Python Java C C JavaScript Golang HTML/CSS SQL TypeScript. 
• Technologies: React NumPy Spring Boot Pandas Git AWS PostgreSQL OpenCV Docker PyTorch Angular. 
• Concepts: Algorithms Data Structures FullStack Machine Learning Software Engineering Agile Methodologies Artificial.

The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $30.00. 

The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $30.00.
