Job Title: Quality Engineer II Plant Operations Job Location:Rockbridge VA
Position Description The Quality Engineer II Plant Operations will play a critical role in driving continuous improvement and ensuring product quality in the manufacturing of chillers for data centers. This role builds upon the foundational quality engineering responsibilities by leading more complex investigations implementing advanced quality control techniques and driving process improvements to enhance plant efficiency. The Quality Engineer II is a handson onthefloor role working closely with production engineering and supply chain teams to resolve issues improve processes and maintain compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA) for recurring quality issues collaborating with crossfunctional teams.
Develop and optimize quality control processes including statistical process control (SPC) and firstpass yield improvements.
Work closely with production teams to implement mistakeproofing (pokayoke) and process enhancements.
Lead failure investigations on nonconfirming materials working with engineering to drive design or process modifications as needed.
Support new product introduction (NPI) by validating quality requirements and participating in design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews.
Train plant personnel on quality best practices including defect prevention and root cause methodologies.
Maintain and improve quality management system (QMS) compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant industry standards.
Utilize datadriven decisionmaking tools such as Six Sigma FMEA and 8D problemsolving to drive continuous improvement.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior quality engineers and technicians.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Qualifications
Bachelors degree in engineering Quality Management or a related field.
3 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment preferably in HVAC refrigeration or industrial equipment production.
Proven experience with root cause investigations corrective actions and process improvements.
Strong statistical analysis skills and experience with SPC FMEA and other quality methodologies.
Proficiency in ISO 9001 compliance and quality management systems (QMS).
Handson experience with manufacturing processes such as welding brazing assembly and testing a plus.
Ability to lead crossfunctional teams and drive results in a fastpaced onthefloor manufacturing environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments
Experience with quality and statistical analysis software (i.e. Minitab JMP or similar tools).
Must pass preemployment background and drug screen
