Job Description

Location: San Diego CA US

Additional Locations: Everett WA US
Level of Experience: Experienced
Reports to: General Manager

Summary/Objective: Estimator will review Specification Packages Work Items Conditions Found Reports and Inspection Deficiency Reports to determine the material requirements and cost trade labor and staffing needed to accomplish the identified requirements. Provide detailed labor breakdowns and multiple deadlines for multiple customers.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Commits to work; adapts and remains flexible; maintains ethical behavior; manages oneself efficiently and in a professional manner.
  • Communicates with various customers to obtain information pertinent to customers request for pricing.
  • Reviews RFPs work items drawings prints and technical manuals to identify trades manhours and potential subcontractors to accomplish work requirements.
  • Prepare detailed pricing information to include reports to production that provide labor estimates material estimates sub estimates which may be in varying Customers formats.
  • Maintain frequent communication with customer contracting officers including ship repair prime contractors ensure all customer RFPs are accommodated.
  • May require offsite Scope Session with Prime / Government Contracting Officers.
  • Maintains records / files in accordance with company / department procedures and guidelines.
  • Conducts ship checks to ensure scope of work is being properly identified and estimated.
  • Develop a complete and concise labor hour and material dollar estimate that meets the requirements of the specification drawing or work scope.
  • Interacts with others by promoting customer relations and satisfaction.
  • Actively participates in implementing and monitoring all continuous improvement initiatives.

Education / Experience Required:

  • Must be able to work in the US.
  • Minimum 2year college degree.
  • Must have a valid California drivers license.
  • Must be able to obtain DBIDS credentials.

Preferred:

  • A plus 6 years experience as a Ship Repair Estimator
  • 4year College Degree (BS)
  • Familiarity with the requirements for government estimating and contract process.
  • Understand the Naval Ship Repair contract requirements and working environment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a fulltime position that requires 40 hours of work per week. MF(or as otherwise assigned by General Manager) with prescheduled overtime as needed.

Work Environment: This job operates in an office and also a shipyard work environment.

Travel: This position requires the ability to travel.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be available to work at heights confined spaces and have ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes. May involve carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs. frequent stooping bending crawling reaching and walking.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

  • Completion of a satisfactory background check
  • Passing a drug test and physical examination
  • Eligibility to work in the US.
  • Obtaining DBIDS level security clearance.
  • OSHA 10 Maritime
