TheWaste Prevention and Environmental Services departmentis looking for aCrew Lead to support theRID program which addresses the impact of dumped and abandoned trash in public spaces by providing cleanup a Crew Lead you will coach lead and work alongside a small crew of participants in aworkforce transition program to safely and effectively clean up dumped and abandoned waste. This program partners with communitybased organizations to provide job skills and opportunities to people facing employment barriers. Currently the workforce program is working on an expansion to provide additional employment opportunities through internal and external partnerships as well as increasing the programs ability to better serve the region in meeting requests for cleanup services.
In this role you will be frequently exposed to the elements; cold heat and rain. The work is performed out in the field and involves unsanitary as well as unpleasant conditions. The trash piles being addressed present possible exposure to household hazardous waste. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. The bulk of the workday involves driving walking hiking segregating containing and loading waste onto trailer for disposal at Metro Transfer Stations.
Metros Waste Prevention and Environmental Services department plans and oversees the regions garbage and recycling system working with local communities government and industry partners to protect the environment conserve resources and ensure that our garbage and recycling system works for RID Patrol program is working to build stronger relationships with impacted communities to more effectively address dumped and abandoned waste issues to support the goals and equity principles of the departments2030 Regional Waste Plan.

Minimum qualifications
Working Conditions
Duties are performed primarily in outdoor environments. Field work requires hiking through natural areas both on and offtrail while carrying up to 50 pounds. Hiking distances vary from 1000 feet to over one mile. Terrain covered may be flat or steep. Work will be performed in all weather conditions including cold rain and excessive heat. Field work may be dirty and requires strict adherence to safety protocols.

COMPENSATION BENEFITS AND REPRESENTATON
The fullsalary range for this position is step 1. $33.52 to step 7. $44.95.However unless a candidates qualifications justify based on the Oregon Pay Equity Act requirements and Metros internal equity review process the appointment will likely be made between step 1. $33.52 to the equity range step 4. $38.80.
This position is eligible for overtime and is represented by AFSCME 3580. It is classified as a RID Patrol Crew Lead classification.
