The assistant park manager will be based out of Roy Lake State Park but will also assist overseeing Sica Hollow State Park. Within these areas are electrical campsites nonelectrical campsites comfort stations vault toilets boat docks boat rentals playgrounds fishing docks picnic shelter trails and beaches and more. Special facilities to Roy Lake State Park also include Modern Lodging (suites and cabins) and a Park Store and Lodge.
The assistant park manager will help the district supervisor maintain these areas in a variety of ways. This includes assisting with recruitment and interview process training and leading seasonal intern and volunteer staff. The assistant park manager is responsible to account for park revenue permits deposits management pointofsale system following an annual work plan for maintenance and operations assisting with inspections administrative tasks to meet customers expectations providing public safety and protecting and preserving the parks natural resources. Lead the onsite management of park store including its staff product design track inventory and more. In addition the assistant park manager will be responsible for District billing and record keeping.
The assistant park manager works in a typical office environment and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The assistant park manager will work near/on water and on ice can be exposed to hazardous materials and chemicals works with a variety of large equipment such as tractors loaders bobcats etc. and an assortment of tools. The assistant park manager will routinely lift heavy items and work on ladders and inside bucket trucks to trim trees or work in facilities. Must be able to work alone or with others including resolving conflicts with the public.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid drivers license.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A detail oriented mindset with an outgoing personality. experienced skills with Word excel PowerPoint windows 11 and social media. the ideal candidate will have a degree relating to park management business biology outdoor education or something relating. have comfortably worked with a pointofsale system or willing to learn. Public relations experience dealing with conflicts concerning the public volunteers staff and the public.
Knowledge of:
the practice of park management;
office procedures; including bookkeeping purchasing and inventory procedures voucher coding etc.;
marketing techniques to promote the park park programming and special events;
cleaning methods and chemicals.
Skill to:
conduct the daily business of the park including park reservations group camping licenses and permits statistics and customer service;
interview train and evaluate seasonal staff and volunteers;
create work schedules and daily plans for seasonals;
operate basic tools and machinery;
landscape sufficiently including control methods and pruning.
Ability to:
connect with community via media career days word of mouth etc.;
communicate effectively with a diverse group of staff;
visualize park enhancements;
demonstrate strong organizational skills attention to detail and problem solving;
enforce park rules and regulations wile maintaining a positive relationship with the public;
use a computer and various software including word excel access social media etc.
