Upward Bound is a federallyfunded early outreach college preparatory program designed to increase college attendance among lowincome and firstgeneration collegebound high school students. The grant serves 60 firstgeneration and lowincome students from Waltham High School focusing on boosting grades retention graduation rates knowledge of the college application process and college enrollment.
This position is the Temp Program Director of the Upward Bound team who will be responsible for planning and implementing the 6week summer Upward Bound program during Summer 2025. The Interim Program Director will perform a variety of administrative and supervisory tasks that provide leadership for the daily functions of the program including but not limited to the following:
In collaboration with the Dean of Academic Support and Advising and the Instructor Coordinator establish a summer curriculum and learning goals and manage hiring training and supervision for required instructor and tutorcounselor positions.
Serve as the onsite manager of the summer program handling daily responsibilities and addressing any issues that may arise.
Compose correspondence reports and other documents as needed; establish and maintain a complex system of files and records for both physical and electronic materials.
Develop brochures flyers and informational materials regarding programming and activities.
Develop and coordinate clerical and administrative support functions for Upward Bound including establishing methods processes and procedures by which this work is to be accomplished;
Control the workflow for summer tasks and establish priorities and deadlines.
Track student participation evaluate program success and manage Upward Bound budget in compliance with TRIO and university guidelines.
Communicate policies and procedures to all applicants and families.
Maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment; organize supplies for storage and/or distribution.
Prepare and process various purchasing forms to include but not limited to Purchase Requisition Reimbursement and Payment Request forms; review and confirm accuracy of invoices for approval of payment.
Handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information where judgement and discretion are essential.
Ensure confidentiality of all program and staff records and other sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in a related field.
Familiarity with college preparatory initiatives including instruction and assessment.
Experience working with lowincome firstgeneration college bound high school students from diverse backgrounds.
General working knowledge of applicable university infrastructure policies and procedures.
Fluency in using standard MS Office software suites with proficient to advanced knowledge of Excel.
Ability to apply independent judgment discretion and initiative to address problems and develop practical thorough and at times creative solutions.
