Job Description

Summary: The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology is searching for a Visiting Professor to teach courses in cell and molecular biology and/or food and fermentation science. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates from underrepresented groups and from candidates who have interest and/or experience in working with diverse student and community populations.

Required Qualifications and Education:

  • MS in Cell or Molecular Biology or related field
  • Teaching experience in the life sciences
  • Experience in demonstrated understanding of or interest in social justice education and/or initiatives and/or inclusion diversity and/or intercultural training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills such as the ability to interact with others with respect and empathy.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • PhD in Cell or Molecular Biology or related field.
  • Familiarity with teaching CourseBased Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE)
  • Familiarity with Brewing and/or Food Fermentation

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses (including but not limited to introductory cell and molecular biology lectures and lab courses as well as fermentation and food science) in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology as appropriate based on the candidates qualifications expertise and experience.

Salary/Benefits: The salary is $50000 for a 9month contract. Department/College: The Cell and Molecular Biology Department consists of 9 faculty members and two lab managers who together offer a minor BS and MS in Cell and Molecular Biology undergraduate and graduate certificates in Bioinformatics and Genomics and two badges in brewing: Homebrewing; and Craft Brewing. Additionally the department operates the Laboratory of Molecular Monitoring for Health and the Environment
