Job Description

The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit nonpartisan 501(c)3 organization that fights for equity for all women and families. Were passionate about making change on big issues such as equal pay for all women paid leave for working families and access to affordable health care that provides abortion and reproductive care. We advocate on the Hill and for federal state and local policy. We are seeking a Senior Associate for DEIA to join our DEIA team.

Now more than a half century into our trajectory the National Partnership for Women & Families is deeply engaged in and committed to an ongoing process to evolve into an antiracist organization that centers the experiences and priorities of women of color and their families to ensure that our work environment is responsive to the diverse needs of all staff and that our work reflects an understanding of the diverse experiences of all women. We believe that this approach helps to ensure that we integrate an intersectional racial equity lens in all of our work both externally and internally and more effectively attack racism sexism and other forms of discrimination and hatred wherever we see it.


Position Overview:

The DEIA Team is the newest team in our organization and is the result of our intensive internal change process to become more inclusive diverse and equitable in all aspects and levels of our work. It is responsible for leading and advancing diversity equity inclusion and antiracism practices across the organization and beyond. This includes developing a workplace culture to truly support all staff particularly those who hold intersecting identities that have been marginalized.


This position will report to the Vice President for DEIA. The Senior DEIA Associate will serve as a key leader in advancing the organizations DEIA strategy initiatives and programs. This individual will collaborate with teams within The Partnership to ensure that DEIA principles are deeply integrated into our culture policies programs and communications. They will also work to develop and implement training resources and initiatives that advance our commitment to diversity equity inclusion and antiracism across all aspects of the organization.


The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for social justice a strong understanding of DEIA principles and proven experience in creating and leading DEIA programs especially within nonprofit or missiondriven settings. This is a terrific opportunity for an intermediatelevel professional who is passionate about DEIA has excellent interpersonal organizational and communitybuilding skills and is comfortable taking initiative and driving positive change.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a resource to staff by providing information and updates about DEIA goals sharing data and receiving feedback and suggestions
  • Act as the internal champion for DEIA initiatives helping to create a culture of openness learning and inclusion.
  • Lead DEIA knowledge management by cataloging and maintaining curated and documents images and media in an easytoaccess manner;
  • Support the establishment and analysis of key outcomes related to DEIA goals and initiatives. Conduct DEIA audits and assessments to evaluate the organizations practices identify areas for improvement and propose actionable solutions.
  • Provide project management for DEIA meetings events and activities including idea formulation logistical support note taking next steps and debriefing.
  • Support and coordinate purchasing materials and logistics around contracts and contractors for DEIArelated initiatives including uploading receipts and other accounting related needs for the DEIA Team
  • Assist in the development and dissemination of internal staff communications regarding DEIArelated news and projects including newsletters surveys and initiatives
  • Assist in creating content and updates for the external and internal DEIA web pages
  • Collaborate with Partnership teams to implement DEIArelated goals and outcomes specific to those teams.
  • Support the recruitment and hiring cycle for the DEIA Teams seasonal intern and serve as daytoday point of contact and oversight for the intern during their semester.
  • Support the creation of accessible materials including providing guidance on language format and content to ensure inclusivity.
  • Organize workshops webinars and other learning opportunities to engage staff and stakeholders in ongoing DEIA education.
  • Provide coaching and support to staff members on DEIArelated challenges and opportunities.

Qualifications Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Passion for diversity equity inclusion and antiracism and desire for social justice
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DEIA frameworks best practices and commitment to staying updated on evolving legal considerations.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to create and maintain systems and processes and manage multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to create internal communications and facilitate trainings and workshops.
  • Demonstrable organizational skills and attention to detail including comfort with data collection analysis and reporting related to DEIA metrics.
  • Experience planning successful staff events trainings and engagement opportunities;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and empathy; ability to build and maintain trusting relationships across the organization and work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Experience managing and maintaining balanced schedules and timelines;
  • Some experience with employee relations or related skill set
  • Knowledge of and/or lived experience in racial justice social justice advocacy gender justice and community collaboration;
  • Minimum of three years of related professional experience.


Preferred:

  • Experience working in a nonprofit or missiondriven environment
  • Familiarity with relevant tools and platforms (e.g. survey tools learning management systems Asana).


Classification

The National Partnership recognizes a staff bargaining unit National Partnership United affiliated with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union/IFPTE Local 70 a union for nonprofit workers. This position is included in the NP United bargaining unit. Specific employment terms are subject to collective bargaining. The first 6 months of employment are a probationary period.

Salary and Benefits


The salary range for this role is $with the exact salary determined by years of relevant experience in alignment with NPWFs compensation setting criteria.

Fully Vaccinated is defined by the CDC as being 2 weeks after the final dose in a primary series of COVID19 vaccines 2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson). Up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID19 vaccines including any booster dose(s) when eligible.
