JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Athletics the Head Mens Basketball Coach responsibilities include but are not limited to organization direction and administration as well as recruitment and retention of studentathletes.
Fort Valley State University a proud member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and the prestigious Southern Intercollegiate Conference (SIAC) is sponsoring 12 intercollegiate mens and womens sports.
This is a fulltime 12month position with benefits.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Responsible for providing vision leadership and strategic planning in directing and supervising all activities related to recruiting teaching training and skill development of scholarathletes in preparation for intercollegiate competitions. Establish positive mutually respectful and effective working relationships with scholarathletes coaches administrators faculty alums and the public. The Head Coach is responsible for developing a program that supports the Universitys Athletics mission. Demonstrate a commitment to represent the University in an honorable and ethical manner complying with all athletic NCAA SIAC Fort Valley State University and the University System of Georgia policies and protocols including the use of all athletic and University software and technology systems documentation travel arrangements equipment/supplies maintenance orders and community service.
- Responsible for providing a positive scholarathlete experience centered on their physical and mental health in the organization implementing oversight and present at all regular practice sessions and competitions in developing instructing and motivating scholarathletes in fundamentals techniques and strategies to achieve a highlevel performance individually and as a team.
- Lead the evaluation and recruitment of athletically talented and academically qualified scholarathletes supporting the Universitys mission and philosophy in monitoring overseeing and supporting academic success. Comply with the academic policies established by the University and the NCAA and maintain an environment where higher education is prioritized as reflected by class attendance grade point averages the NCAA Academic Success Rate (ASR) and federal graduation rates.
- Develop implement and oversee the sports operating budget provided by the university. Develop fundraising activities and events to supplement the budget needs of the program including cooperating fully with the University in promoting the Program the Universitys Athletics Advancement fundraising the University the Universitys Alumni Association and other Universityaffiliated organizations. Such cooperation includes but is not limited to (a) attendance and participation at meetings events and media outlets of the University and Universityaffiliated organizations; (b) endorsement of products and performance of promotional services; and (c) personal appearances in each case as directed by the Director of Athletics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Collegiatelevel coaching experience with knowledge of NCAA Division II regulations
- Head coaching experience with 4 years of head or assistant collegiate coaching
- Proven track record of successful collegiate recruiting
