Job Description
CLASSTITLE: Gifted Education Teacher
(This is a Parttime Position)
LOCATION: Districtwide
BASIC FUNCTION: Provide identified gifted and talented students with appropriate learning experiences that develop potential and lead to advanced academic achievement. Provide services for gifted and talented students in the primary talent pool and 4th through 12th grade districtwide working in collaboration with administrators and teachers to provide supplemental support for increasing advanced student achievement for all students specifically gifted and talented students through staff development instructional planning and classroom support for teachers through both a pullout and pushin program.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create and evaluate programming for gifted and talented populations.
- Possess and apply knowledge of the educational needs of gifted and talented students.
- Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of gifted and talented students.
- Ability to design and implement interdisciplinary units of study.
- Ability to use openended and problem solving approaches of instruction.
- Flexibility and confidence in working with gifted students their parents and staff.
- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation.
- Knowledge of assessment principles and design.
- Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements of gifted and talented students.
- Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners.
- Ability to interpret data.
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
- Identification of gifted and talented students in an annual cycle and as required for transfer students.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Valid State Teaching Cerificate and Gifted Education Endorsement
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be estabished by the Board.
EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
