NXTGEN is delighted to be partnering with a modern accountancy firm in Norwich to recruit a Payroll Assistant to join their lovely and experienced team. This is a newly created Payroll Assistant role driven by the firms continued expansion and growing demand for their payroll services. Its a fantastic chance to join a forwardthinking business that genuinely cares about their people and the service they provide.

As the new Payroll Assistant youll be stepping into a role that offers so much more than just payroll processing. Youll have the chance to make a real impact on local clients offering advice and support along the way. With the firm experiencing exciting growth theres clear opportunity for progression ongoing training and even involvement in other areas of the business if youre keen to broaden your skillset. Youll work with a varied client base from ambitious SMEs to wellestablished businesses delivering endtoend payroll services ensuring accuracy and timeliness while building trusted relationships throughout.

Youll be joining one of the most supportive and friendly teams in the local market within a firm known for its downtoearth culture and collaborative working environment. This is a client Ive had the pleasure of working closely with for a number of years not only placing their current Payroll Manager but also a number of other highly successful Accountants across the firm so if this is a role that intrigues you Ill be able to give a real insight into what this role would entail as well as success stories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing endtoend payroll for a portfolio of clients ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Handling payroll queries and providing expert advice on PAYE pensions and statutory deductions
  • Supporting with bookkeeping tasks including reconciliations and transaction processing
  • Building strong client relationships and delivering exceptional service
  • Working closely with the wider team to continuously improve processes and efficiencies

What Were Looking For:

  • Experience in payroll processing within an accountancy practice or bureau environment
  • Knowledge of payroll software such as Sage Payroll or Xero Payroll
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines effectively
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset keen to develop and grow within the firm
