Lab Engineer

Role Summary:
Flowserve Cookeville a valve production site seeks a Lab Engineer. In this role the candidate will be conducting tests or designing and developing test setups to support all aspects of operations at this facility. The lab professional will be expected to perform and document the tests with minimal supervision and oversight. Testing can cover a very broad range of different processes that may include temperature pressure torque fluid leakage and fire testing. This role may assist engineering in multiple ways to aide in product evaluation improvement and development. This role will also be considered as a lab leader and must be able to provide selfdirection in the absence of the lab supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Assist design engineers in designing modeling fabricating and testing new designs and prototypes in a thorough and timely manner.
• Review test requirements from internal and external customers and create test plans test procedures and test reports as written communication to the lab customers. These documents must be well written to clearly convey the planned effort and results to reduce uncertainty and confusion.
• Perform various Laboratory testing maintenance and cleanup as required.
• Machine prototypes assembly or fabricate test fixtures and test articles purchase equipment or special production parts as needed.
• Assist with maintenance and operations in the laboratories.
• Must follow all safety requirements and stay current with required safety and documentation training.
• Maintain a clean work environment and participate in or lead 6S activities
• Create programs in LabVIEW and setup test for data collection

Requirements:

• Minimum Associates Degree in an engineering field
• Must be able to effectively use Microsoft Office products like Excel Word and PowerPoint
• Hydraulics and Pneumatics skills. Ability to design setup and conduct testing as required.
• Basic knowledge of electricity and electronics. Ability to test electronic systems to measure voltages current resistance. Ability to interpret wiring schematics and create/modify components to meet schematic.
• Ability to read and understand technical documents relating to test and performance in the form of R&D testing documentation customer technical specifications and industry standards.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Must be able to take direction and complete tasks within a reasonable timeframe
• Physical requirements include ability to stand for long periods of time ability to carry up to 50 pounds. Lifting bending twisting of shoulders and use of arms in an outreaching position is required.
• Standing and walking throughout the work area is required.
• Must be able to work temporary modified work schedules to support testing alternate work schedules could be first second third shift or a combination of the three

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• LabVIEW/Data acquisition programming
• Experience using CAD for 3D design (Solidworks)
• Ability to machine components with manual or CNC equipment.
