Job Description

Position Summary

Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. The instructor will adhere to the general and adjunct faculty guidelines as specified by the Calhoun Community College Personnel Handbook the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Alabama Community College System policy.

Salary: Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule D: $42108 $94363 9 months)
An additional summer assignment may be available: $13001 $29184 3 months)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise.
  2. Teach at varied times and places and in varied formats based on student demand; day or evening on the Decatur and Huntsville Campus or at other sites including dual enrollment traditional classroom hybrid or web format and distance education.
  3. Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to institutional divisional departmental and individual criteria.
  4. Collect maintain and submit accurate class records including grades attendance rosters absences withdrawal and/or class drop information to appropriate offices.
  5. Prepare or assist in the preparation of materials used in academic administration when requested including course syllabi program outlines and catalog material.
  6. Participate in scheduled inservice activities.
  7. Provide academic and career advice to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences.
  8. Be prompt and punctual in reporting for work. Maintain assigned office hours.
  9. Maintain or increase competency in the chosen specialty by seeking new knowledge improving teaching skills and updating professional competencies.
  10. Assist in the development of disciplinespecific student learning outcome objectives.
  11. Assess student learning using multiple assessment strategies.
  12. Analyze and interpret data relative to student learning and provide feedback to the institution and students for the purpose of improving and expanding student learning.
  13. Promote positive and productive relationships with service area businesses industries and agencies.
  14. Perform all duties with professionalism.
  15. Provide advice to the administration on matters pertaining to the instructional program.
  16. Serve on committees engaged in furthering the work of the institution when appointed or when elected.
  17. Become familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog Personnel Handbook and Board Policy Manual; and follow such policies and procedures.
  18. Perform other appropriate professional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  1. A minimum of an Associates degree in Drafting Engineering Architecture or designrelated technologies from an accredited institution is required.
  2. A minimum of 3 years fulltime related work experience as a practitioner in a drafting/design related field is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:

  1. Demonstrated expertise in the subject area.
  2. Demonstrated proficiency in at least three 3 of the following software products: AutoCAD Revit SolidWorks and Solid Edge.
  3. Effective oral written and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Documented evidence in the proficiency of use of internet email and computer software programs (e.g. Microsoft Word PowerPoint etc..
  5. Competency in the use of current educational technologies in the classroom and willingness to develop and teach webbased courses.
  6. Ability to work independently and in a team environment including to review and update curriculum.
  7. Experience in LEAN manufacturing practices and procedures.
  8. Ability to deal effectively with diverse students other employees and the public.
  9. Knowledge and experience with professional organizations such asSkillsUSAand AWS which promotes leadership work ethic and skill attainment.
  10. Willingness to interact regularly with business and industry to stay current with changing needs and promote positive and productive relationships.
  11. Ability to conduct individual and small group instruction.
  12. An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college system.
  13. Successful problem solving skills.
  14. Ability to learn new teaching pedagogy and new software as required.
  15. An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college system.
  16. Commitment to all students including those of diverse ages cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
  17. Successful college teaching experience.
