About the role

Our Child & Family Services provide Intensive Family Preservation services within the Child Protection system to strengthen families and decrease any risks to children reducing the numbers of children entering Out of Home Care. As a Child and Family Practitioner in our Intensive Family Preservation program you will undertake an assessment of family strengths needs and desired outcomes creating individualised support plans and linking families with appropriate supports. You will use our evidence based practice framework in all aspects of the role. This will assist you in delivering high level family preservation services to families. You will honour respect and incorporate children and families culture in all aspects of practice and service delivery.

Duties

  • Undertake child protection assessments identifying strengths and needs of a family
  • Create and implement individualised support plans to address specific risk factors present for each family.
  • Provide intensive home visiting
  • Provide intervention through the use of evidence informed practices partnering with other services and supporting the family to shape their next chapter
  • Document your activity to ensure the impact of our evidence informed framework on families in the Australian context can be measured and used to shape future practice standards across the sector.

Skills and Experience

We want you to be successful in your new role! This means as an experienced Social Worker Psychologist Case Worker or Case Manager you will have:

  • Degree qualified in social work psychology or similar.
  • Extensive experience in case management particularly in child protection.
  • Strong grasp on child protection issues including substance abuse mental health domestic violence and traumas impact on a childs development.
  • Familiarity with evidencebased practices and intervention models
  • Computer literate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled in building relationships with stakeholders.
