The PoliceVolunteer Program Coordinator plans develops and manages Volunteer and/or Internship programs includingcreatinga mission goalspolicyprocedures and marketing to increase public awareness. Provides oversight of program operations. Although this positions primary task is as a volunteer administrator this job will haveadditionalresponsibilities with the efficient operations of various programs/initiatives of the police department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Defines and develops volunteer or internship positions.

  • Recruits screens trains and places volunteers; sets up work schedules and monitors workload.

  • Monitors and reviewsvolunteer or intern performance and may oversee internal communication and recognition programs.

  • May coach and counsel volunteers interns and staff on all relevant personnel issues and concerns.

  • May prepare newsletters as well as reports presentations and policies relating to program development.

  • Assists the Planning and Research Major with implementing and following through on various police department programs and initiatives. Thisassistancemay include scheduling meetings coordinating events internal and external communication and project management.

Supervision received and Exercised

  • Works under general supervision.

  • Exercises supervision over volunteers as assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS& ABILITIES

  • Considerable knowledge of budget development and management.

  • Considerable skills and knowledge of recruitmentselectionand supervision techniques.
  • Skill in public speaking and customer service.
  • Ability to relate and work with a broad and varied population; Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to ambiguous situations; Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Effective organizational skills. Ability to manage time multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including building andmaintainingeffective team relationships with coworkers department management city staff and community members.
  • Ability toanticipate analyze diagnose and problemsolve.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability tomaintaina high levelof accuracy and bedetailoriented.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE and OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduation from an accredited fouryear college or university.

  • Three or more years of professionalrelated experience in volunteer or project management.
  • Experience as an administrative assistant is preferred.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education experience and training that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Valid Washington State drivers license.
  • Washington State Patrol Access Certification or ability toattainwithin six months of hire.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age who can read and speak fluent English and either:
    • A US citizen or
    • A lawful permanent resident or
    • A Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)recipient with employment authorization from USCIS.

  • Work involves walking talking hearing using hands to handle feel or operate objects tools or controls and reaching with hands and arms.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.

  • Any participation in or allowing of the manufacture selling offering to sell cultivation warehousing distribution holding or transporting for another transporting for sale or financing of any illegal /narcotics within five years of application* including extraction and concentration of THC oils from for the production of honey wax dabs or any other THC concentrate
  • Any distribution of illegal or illegal distribution of since applying* to and/or while employed by any law enforcement agency (including military police agencies)
Forged/Abused Prescriptions:
  • Any prescription forgery prosecuted undetected or otherwise within five years of application*
Criminal Violations
The following will be disqualifying:
  • Any adult felony conviction.
  • Any juvenile felony conviction within the past five years.
  • Any misdemeanor conviction for a crime involving moral turpitude.
  • Commission of any crime of violence including domestic violence.
  • Commission of any sexual offense within the past five years.
  • Any conviction of a felony crime at any time while employed in any capacity with a Law Enforcement Agency (including volunteer intern and reserve positions).
  • Any single theft of property or money in excess of $100 value within the past five years.
