The Team
The South Okanagan Resource and Out of Care Team is a highly collaborative and experienced group of professionals dedicated to supporting foster caregivers outofcare homes and staffed resources (SHSS) across a large geographical area. With two Resource Workers two Out of Care Workers one SHSS Worker one Social Worker Assistant and a Team Leader they work closely with internal teams including Child Protection Guardianship Adoptions Child and Youth Mental Health as well as local schools hospitals and community partners to ensure safety and strive for permanency. Known for their strong teamwork and unwavering support for one another this team is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children youth and families.

The Role
The Resource and Out of Care Worker ensures children and youth in care have access to safe nurturing homes by coordinating placements with foster families or relatives on both an emergency and planned basis. In this role you will collaborate with families and community partners to support permanency options such as adoption or outofcare arrangements while championing the rights and wellbeing of children and youth. In this role you will collaborate with families caregivers and community partners to help children thrive in their own communities and ensure safe stable and caring home environments. This is a relational and meaningful role where you can make lasting connections and foster positive changes helping children and youth understand their potential and building strong connections within the beautiful South Okanagan community.

Job Requirements:
Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements

1. Preferred Credentials:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Masters Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • Inservice Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 2430 base position that requires delegation under the Child Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
  • A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.

NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ICES. You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

2. Expanded Credentials:

Human Services fields include: Psychology Sociology Criminology Anthropology Early Childhood Education Indigenous Studies Education Theology or Nursing.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancieswithin Resources in the Okanagan West Kootney SDA.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
