Job Description
The Widener University School of Nursing is currently seeking a dynamic applicant for a one year fulltime 10month undergraduate nursing faculty position with expertise in Medical Surgical Nursing on the Chester Campus beginning in August 2025 reporting to the Dean of the School of Nursing.
The School of Nursing accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and recognized by the National League for Nursing as a Center of Excellence is known for its collegial and supportive faculty environment. We offer comprehensive faculty mentorship opportunities for faculty development and exceptional opportunities for engagement both in the School of Nursing and the University.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
Essential duties:
- Design and delivery of evidencebased teaching strategies for undergraduate nursing curricula mentor/advise students and engage in service to the university School of Nursing and community and contribute to the creation of an environment that promotes diversity inclusivity growth equality and freedom of speech.
Secondary responsibilities:
- Foster interprofessional learning experiencesclinical practice as required by advanced practice certification. Opportunity for volunteer practice in the Widener Community Nursing Clinic. The clinic offers pro bono medical care to uninsured/underserved residents in the surrounding communities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
- Masters degree in nursing
- Current Multistate Compact License as a Registered Nurse or Pennsylvania RN licensure (or US RN licensure and eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania)
- Three years of academic teaching experience (can include clinical teaching)
- A minimum of three 3 years of practice as a registered nurse in medical surgical nursing
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and collaboration
Preferred:
- Certification in Medical Surgical Nursing
- Certification as a Nurse Educator (CNE) CNE Clinical and/or CNE Novice
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
- May require teaching in the evening.
