As the Chief of Psychiatry you will be responsible for maintaining the quality of psychiatric care within the facility. Will provide psychiatric diagnosis medication monitoring and consultation for patients.

Essential Duties Include:

  • Leadership
    • Acts as a resource to patients employees and psychiatric staff for resolution of problems related to patient care.
    • Serves as liaison between psychiatric staff employees and administration.
    • Serves as role model for other physicians demonstrating quality practice documentation and communication.
    • Actively participates in assigned committees.
    • Ensures adequate psychiatric coverage is provided.
    • Provides oncall services as required.
  • Patient Care
    • Completes a Psychiatric Evaluation on all assigned patients within 72 hours of admission.
    • Provides services to assigned patients including psychiatric evaluations medication management and mental status assessments of patients.
    • Evaluates patients clinical and medical appropriateness for transfer and / or discharge.
    • Prescribes medication appropriate to the patient within the policies and practices of the Company.
    • Works with treatment team to minimize the use of psychotropic medications with a focus of removing patients from controlled or additive medications if clinically appropriate.
    • Determines a psychiatric diagnosis per DSMV or subsequent publication and documents the diagnosis in the patients medical record within 24 hours of admission.
    • Clarifies diagnoses on an ongoing basis specifically addressing rule outs and other diagnoses discussed in treatment team meetings.
  • Performance Improvement
    • Participates in the Performance Improvement process outcome measurement and corrective action / training programs.
    • Actively participates in any State Regulatory or Accreditation surveys.
  • Community Education
    • Provides community education meeting with professional and providing speaking engagements.
  • Documentation
    • Completes all documentation maintaining compliance with the policies and procedures of the facility.
  • Staffing / Training
    • Recruit and train staff to ensure quality and consistent patient care
  • Other
    • Ability to converse with others in English to give take and process information; extensive use of telephone.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information multitask coordinate projects and record/transcribe general and specific meeting minutes.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Communicate with other staff in relaying concerns and observations involving patient safety.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from an approved medical school.
  • M.D. / O.D. Degree.
  • Fellowship training as needed.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible.
  • License in good standing to practice medicine on the State of Arizona.
  • Must have a DEA number have or be willing to obtain a DEA Waiver to prescribe Buprenorphine.
  • CPR and PRI Certified
  • Five years previous experience in a like treatment setting preferred.
  • Five years work experience with patient population served preferred.
  • Five years medical administrative experience preferred.
  • Three years supervisor experience preferred.
  • Meets active staff credentialing requirements
