ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Underwriting new business applications policy changes and renewal business within an assigned territory.
2. Gather information and use underwriting knowledge to make informed decisions relating to risk acceptability and
pricing that are in line with Midwests underwriting philosophies and current strategies
3. Thorough knowledge of NCCI and /or Bureau rules policy administration policy writing and data reporting
functions related to the Underwriting process. Processing of all transactions new business renewals and
endorsements as required.
4. Produce policy documents and file documentation as required.
5. Effective communication skills both verbal and written
6. Manage a territory to meet goals and maintain work within company service standards and individual underwriting
authority.
7. Build and sustain meaningful relationship0s with agency partners and field personnel.

COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong ability to research and gather all necessary data to make informed decisions.
Exceptional analytical skills
Above average mathematical skill is required.
Appropriate sense of urgency relative to service standards and maintaining agency relationships.
Demonstrated decision making abilities with ability to support decisions with evidence.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: College degree or a minimum of 4 years of commercial insurance experience in the workers
compensation field.
Basic understanding of workers compensation insurance and general underwriting principles.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
