George Fox Universitys Department of University Recreation is seeking a teamplayer with excellent interpersonal and administrative skills to serve as the Recreation Coordinator.
About the Job:
In collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director of University Recreation the Recreation Coordinator provides leadership oversight programming and vision for the Hadlock Student Center (HSC) and University Recreation. In addition to other duties the Recreation Coordinator oversees the program areas of intramural sports and rental center.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Directing the University Recreation (UREC) intramural program. 30
- Recruiting hiring training and evaluating the intramural staff 1012 student employees)
- Developing and implementing intramural programs and events which includes the maintenance of equipment a purchasing plan for new equipment and risk management of those areas.
- Assisting with department administration and recreational programming. 30
- Helping to coordinate RecFest the Wellness Fair and other UREC events.
- Developing policies procedures and systems for operation and risk management.
- Collaborating with the Director and Assistant Director on projects and additional tasks. This includes the creation and implementation of policies & procedures daily operations programming staffing budgeting marketing and longterm planning.
- Overseeing the rental center. 30
- Maintaining and updating rental center equipment ensuring equipment is in good condition and free of damage.
- Managing a purchasing plan for new equipment.
- Organizing and managing rental center software.
- Preparing for and helping manage Gearage Sales.

- Assisting Director and Assistant Director of Recreation with facility management and maintenance as needed.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others including employees students and the public in a spirit of teamwork respect and customer service.
- By actions words and lifestyle be a Christian role model to students whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect appreciation and humility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Were looking for candidates who have:
- A minimum of one year of experience in recreation programming sport management fitness management or leadership student activities or other applicable leadership.
- The ability to challenge support mentor interact with and relate to college students.
- Demonstrated awareness respect and appreciation for diversity of culture background race sex political views expressions of faith etc. and works well with a variety of people.
- The availability and willingness to work at least one weekend day per month and some evenings.
- An AED CPR First Aid certification (or are willing to obtain).
- Strong written and oral communication skills along with innate organizational skills.
- The demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
