Job Description
Job Summary/Purpose:
Ultrasound Technologists provide exams in the field of ultrasonography to include general US small parts breast and vascular to the specifications of the ordering provider and radiologists needs.
Candidate will be knowledgeable in anatomical positioning and physiology and must be able to perform high quality ultrasound examination for interpretation by a provider.
Performs examinations in all areas of the ultrasound department that he/she is certified and/or trained to perform.
May be required to travel between MUSC Physicians outreach sites located in Mt. Pleasant North Charleston and West Ashley.
Education and Work Experience:
Graduate of an approved Diagnostic Ultrasonography program.
Preferred Requirements:
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
1 year experience.
Required Licensure Certifications Registrations:
Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMA) or registry eligible.
Registered by ARDMS within 12 months of hire.
BLS certification.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to evaluate and appropriately respond to verbal and nonverbal communication from patients diverse stages of development.
Completes procedures following approved procedure protocols with sufficient speed to promote departmental efficiency.
Completes required documentation for each procedure both computer and handwritten.
Demonstrates technical competence in the operation of imaging equipment and the use of procedure related supplies. Complete knowledge of related physics anatomy imaging techniques and medical terminology.
Introduces self to patients explains the procedure assists the patient at the end of the procedure and explains the next steps.
Maintain a professional demeanor in attitude appearance and communication.
Obtains pertinent history verifies orders and communicates effectively with coworkers and other clinic staff to provide excellent patient care.
Physical Requirements:
Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist kneel climb stairs reach in all directions fully use both hands and legs possess good finger dexterity perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift lower push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs / unassisted exert up to 50 lbs of force lift from 36 to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Work Experience: 5 years for support or 02 years for professionalCertification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
