Job Description
Brookfield Internal Auditis an independent and objective assurance and consulting function with a team of audit professionals based in Toronto New York London Sao Paolo Sydney and Mumbai. The team engages across the broader universe of Brookfield businesses and its senior leaders to assess and advise on risks and operational efficiency over key processes. Internal Audit reports directly into the Audit Committee and Board of Directors and the work positively impacts its employees investors shareholders and business partners. The data analytics team applies data analytics techniques across compliance operational financial SOX and IT audits and runs business intelligence projects that support the wider business.
Position Summary
- Handson experience conducting data analytics to support the audit program including internal audit advisory and SOX engagements for Brookfields Real Estate and Asset Manager business.
- Opportunity to identify and develop new analytics to support the audit program and business intelligence initiatives.
- Internship will be fulltime during Summer 2025 (June August) with the option to extend the internship to parttime during the school year based on intern performance and business needs (a minimum of 16 hours per week commitment would be expected for parttime assignment).
- The intern will work on a specific strategic project that advances the analytics teams goals. This could include developing AI use cases for common audits building a model to manage false positives in our testing or creating a roadmap for updating our analytics test programs.
- Interns will have the chance to present the outcomes of their project to senior audit leadership showcasing their findings and recommendations.
- Training in using tools such as Alteryx or PowerBI will be provided if required.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on assigned project under the direction of the Analytics team.
- Investigate results of data analysis and prepare reports for management to summarize findings.
- Assist with the planning and of data analysis for audit engagements using Alteryx Excel PowerBI and Python.
- Develop dashboards and design metrics for business intelligence projects using Power BI. Perform research and other ad hoc assignments as requested.
- Accurately track and report on hours worked on assignments.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program (preferably having completed courses in accounting finance or auditing) working towards a degree in accounting finance or a related field with a demonstrated aptitude for analytics and coding (for example relevant course work or a portfolio of relevant projects).
- Experience with Alteryx SQL PowerBI or Python is an asset.
- Must be available to work onsite throughout the duration of the internship and able to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks work well under pressure and be selfmotivated with a positive attitude.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office including MS PowerPoint Excel Word and Outlook.
