Job Description

Pincushion Hill Montessori school follows the theory and practices of Doctor Maria Montessori. We are a legacy program that fosters individual growth collaboration and respect within our community. Our legacy program has been a success for over sixty years. We pride ourselves in offering a handson diverse spiraling curriculum. Our curriculum is heavily influenced by Dr Maria Montessori and STEM. The interior spaces provide many curated materials from astronomy to zoology and so much more. We have one Toddler room servicing ages 18 months to 2.9 years of age. There are two Childrens House classrooms servicing the individual needs of ages role of the support teacher is to assist where and when needed in various classrooms. This includes classroom coverage for daily recess lunch duties and regular meeting hours. The support teacher is to encourage a peaceful environment and nurture student independence by observing and redirecting as needed. Montessori classrooms provide a handson learning experience using didactic materials that meet the individual needs of the children. Additionally within our program the support teacher shall be a model of professionalism for parents children and support teacher is an individual needs of the children in accordance with the schools mission and vision. Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide and supervise a healthy safe social and intellectual environment Provide support for the program faculty and studentsModel communicate and encourage consistent behavioral interactionsFoster the development of independence and collaboration Model and encourage the development of problem solving Communicate with parents effectively when needed Communicate with the director prior to speaking with a parent regarding health well being and behavioralCommunicate clearly and respectfully with staff membersAdhere to Pincushion Hills Montessori curriculumOrganize replenish and maintain classroom materials and supplies when neededFollow the recommendations and requirements of the state regulators Department of Early Childhood and Care (EEC)Follow the procedures and protocols found within the employee handbook. Examples of these include the schools evacuation plan and health and wellbeingEssential FunctionsFrequent bending lifting and reaching are required Adapt to classroom coverage as needed (Toddlers or Childrens House)Regular attendance is mandatoryAttends and participates in a monthly meetingAttend school functionsMinimum QualificationsAn associates degree or bachelors degree relating to the field of education is preferredIn process of obtaining an associates degree or bachelors degree relating to the field of education Classes pertaining to child developmentExperience working with toddlers or children ages 2.9 6 within an early childhood settingSuccessful candidates will need to pass a background CORI check and remain current on First Aid/CPR certifications
