General Responsibilities
This position is responsible for ongoing firstlevel schoolbased technical support in the form of installation maintenance and repair of the school divisions computers servers networking devices software and all other technologyrelated equipment. Network Engineers will be responsible for complying with Department of Technology (DOT) standards and directives for the work to be accomplished at their respective building.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
Requires an Associates Degree Bachelors preferred in Computer Science or a related field and broad computer and network support experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Industryrelevant certifications required (i.e. Network A etc. Must possess a working knowledge of Windows OS: Apple iOS; G ZEN; Ethernet (IO Base T) switched networks TCIP/IP address and routing. Advanced troubleshooting and configuration knowledge of microcomputers in a networked environment are required. Requires two 2 years of customer service and/or K12/IT department experience.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for providing technical support in the form of installation maintenance and repair of the school divisions computers servers networking devices software and all other technologyrelated equipment.
- Provides technical support consultation and troubleshooting for all district users including teachers staff students and other district staff on the implementation of technology.
- Analyzes designs propose install and document network installation and change activity at assigned site(s).
- Performs and/or assists in problem determination and resolution activities to include troubleshooting diagnosis and resolution of often complex software and hardware problems involving LAN WAN and VoIP connectivity.
- Provides input and assists in the coordination of site installations relating to computer systems and other technological peripherals including software.
- Maintains and modifies computer software programs such as operating systems communications software utility programs software patches/fixes etc.
- Responsible for coordinating new equipment installations network changes and similar technical requirements with districtlevel staff.
- Coordinates networking upgrades and changes in other technology at assigned site(s).
- Serves as a liaison between the Network Services Department and the schools regarding technology requirements and the communication of information and standards.
- Responsible for maintaining the schools technology inventory (Asset Tracking software) and assist in the checkout/checkin procedures alongside the Inventory team at the local school level (SDS APs ITRTs Designated staff).
- Troubleshoots complex problems requiring specialized expertise.
- Utilizes specialized tools to diagnose and repair microcomputer and peripheral systems; including utilizing appropriate safety equipment in the performance of duties.
- Performs configuration testing and debugging of new hardware and software and other related technologies.
- Possess excellent communication customer service technical and professional skills;
- Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and solve complex problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and without constant direct supervision.
- Ability to properly develop and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ability to make presentations or explain technical concepts to nontechnical professionals.
- Ability to occasionally drive; stand; walk; climb; balance; bend; stoop; kneel; twist/turn; push/pull up to fifty 50 pounds; lift/move up to twenty 20 pounds for at least 35 feet.
- Installs and maintains application software and user email accounts.
- Troubleshoot identify and resolve problems associated with application software and user/mail accounts as needed by district staff.
- Sets up and configures hardware and installs new software on school computers.
- Substitutes for engineers during longterm absences; including the pending assignment of a new engineer to a school.
- Requires timely and regular adherence to established work schedule for reliable function of this position.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the District Technical Support Supervisor (DTSS) and other appropriate administrators;
