About the role

Were pleased to invite applications for the position of Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician to join our Hardware Engineering Group.

Based in Mawson Lakes South Australia and reporting to the CAD Team Leader you will design and enhance Saabs cuttingedge products parts and assemblies while ensuring efficiency and adherence to highquality standards.

Your work time is flexible too hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

As part of your specific responsibilities you will:

  • Collaborate with Hardware Engineers to understand design requirements and limitations.
  • Create CAD models assemblies and drawings to required standards (AS1100 & DEF (AUST)5085.
  • Administer and maintain CAD/PLM systems including managing libraries and metadata in Windchill.
  • Conduct tolerance studies and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) practices.
  • Support design reviews engineering investigations and implement Model Based Definition (MBD) practices.
  • Stay updated on technical advancements in 3D design CAD drafting and PLM tools.
  • Recommend and implement initiatives for improving CAD outcomes.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Formal CAD Training
  • Experience with CAD and PLM tools (preferably CREO and Windchill).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T practices and the ability to create advanced 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
  • Familiarity with AS1100 and DEF (AUST) 5085 standards.
  • The ability to manage CAD metadata libraries and support the entire product design lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing especially machined and fabricated components.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and excellent communication skills.
  • High level of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • Exceptional teamwork and problemsolving skills.


As Defence security clearance is required for this role applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
