GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a high level or swim instruction to individuals and or groups.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general direction of the Aquatics Manager Aquatics Coordinator Aquatics Supervisor and/or Head Guards.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of swim lesson students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides instruction in water safety and teaches swimming lessons for assigned age groups.
Maintains constant alertness to those in class.
Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
AND
OR
Some knowledge of water safety practices rules and guidelines; swimming instruction techniques.

Ability to demonstrate advanced swimming skills; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees the public ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Must be 15 years of age.
Must obtain swim lesson instructor certification upon hire.
Incumbent of the position performs in a climate controlled environment. OSHA related hazards may be encountered under controlled conditions. Tasks require a variety of physical activities generally involving muscular strain such as walking standing stooping sitting reaching and hand finger dexterity needed in performance of essential duties. Mental application utilizes memory for details verbal instructions emotional stability discriminating thinking and creative emotional stability discriminating thinking.
As per Washington City policy and/or procedures a background check and drug screening evaluation will be required for potential new hire candidates prior to an offer of employment. I understand that if I am under the age of 18 I must have my parent or my legal guardian grant their permission for the background check and drug screening test to be performed.
