Job Description
AWS Network Product Development (NPD) is responsible for designing the router platforms and network operating systems that power AWS data centers. In other words we engineer the fastest routers in the world for the largest cloud network on the planetall within our stateoftheart network engineering labs.
We are seeking a highly motivated bestinclass Network Technician to join our growing team. You will collaborate with a diverse group of worldclass engineers technicians and technical program managers to support the innovation and development of AWSs nextgeneration networking technologies.
In this role youll be responsible for all aspects of networking including:
Racking and stacking network hardware cabling and fiber validation for highspeed connectivity
configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols (OSPF BGP) VLANs and subnetting building testbeds designing networks and managing largescale deployments. Beyond handson technical work you will help refine operational procedures develop new tools and drive continuous improvements. Network Technicians play a critical role in optimizing lab infrastructure ensuring seamless test environments and pushing the boundaries of network engineering.

Key job responsibilities
Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow.
Collaborate with various stake holders to remove project obstacles.
Maintain lab stability by triaging testbed failures.
Troubleshoot networking routing and inter connectivity issues including troubleshooting of network device configuration and low to midlevel application interaction.
Troubleshooting cabling infrastructure connectivity issues including patch panels and patch cords.
Specifying Power and Cooling requirements and ensuring Hardware Racking/Stacking completed for new equipment.
Participate in the migration basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
A day in the life
A typical day involves:
Maintaining the lab via automated health checks. You will identify why testbeds failed these checks and perform necessary triage.
Building of testbeds for increased test capacity next generation platforms that power AWS and oneoff customer requests.
Support of our remote networking labs.
You are encouraged to implement mechanisms and streamline processes to improve lab workflows.
We own everything from our core infrastructure lab testbeds budgeting and capacity planning for future growth. There is no shortage of career growth opportunities.
We are continuously expanding our footprint and work with various teams to design and implement new lab locations.
AS/BS in Information Systems Computer Science Networking or relevant IT field
2 years of success in any two of the following IT roles (Computer Hardware Repair InfrastructureCabling Network Deployment Data Center Operations Technical Project Management)
2 years of success working with networking devices (routers switches firewalls etc. and their operating systems (Cisco IOS JUNOS Linux etc.
Strong understanding of networking across all layers (Layer 17 with expertise in physical infrastructure switching and routing.
Deep knowledge of routing protocols including BGP OSPF and other dynamic routing protocols.
Experience with network automation troubleshooting and optimizing largescale network environments.
Proficiency in analyzing and resolving complex network issues related to performance scalability and resilience.
Ability to design implement and maintain highavailability network architectures.
Scripting experience to automate tedious and manual workflows.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $88100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $138800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
