Job Summary:
The Robotics Coach plays a vital role in supporting and mentoring high school students as they explore the world of robotics. This position involves guiding students through the process of designing building and programming robots while fostering problemsolving teamwork and leadership skills. The Robotics Coach will serve as a mentor and technical advisor creating a studentcentered environment that emphasizes creativity collaboration and perseverance. The coach will oversee recruitment scheduling and competition participation for the schools robotics team(s).
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and lead team practices from September through March.
Hold a minimum of one afterschool practice per week lasting 12 hours.
Provide practice and scrimmage schedules to the building administrator.
Attend and supervise Saturday robotics competitions.
Register with the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation and complete any required background checks.
Manage logistics such as ordering team tshirts and maintaining 34 students per robot.
Collaborate with Tricia Hudson Angela Malone and Kelli Terrell regarding registration fees robot parts field elements and tournament logistics.
Actively recruit students based on interest and team capacity.
Guide students through a studentled robotics experience using the engineering design process.
Take initiative in fundraising efforts to support the sustainability of the robotics program (e.g. hosting VEX IQ tournaments working concessions applying for grants securing sponsorships).
Attend all required coach meetings and trainings.
Help students build realworld skills including critical thinking teamwork and technical competencies in coding and engineering.
Qualifications:
Strong interest in STEM education and student engagement.
No prior robotics experience required; training is provided through the REC Foundation.
Ability to guide and troubleshoot student work using critical thinking strategies.
Comfortable managing multiage groups of students in an extracurricular setting.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn technology tools and platforms related to robotics and engineering.
