A Brief OverviewThe Vice President Patient Access directs and leads governance structure and process performance across Avera Health and its hospitals clinics and skillednursing facilities. This leader is responsible for monitoring the functions within Patient Access which front end work of scheduling preregistration patient advocacy authorization and insurance verification registration as well as Customer Service and the Avera Collection Center. This leader is responsible for standardizing patient access processes and implementing bestpractices across the organization. The VP of Patient Access coordinates with the VP of Patient Financial Services (PFS) and VP for Health Information Management (HIM) in the development and of the revenue cycle strategy under the direction of the System Vice President Revenue Cycle.
What you will do
- Partner with System VP of Rev Cycle VP PFS and VP of HIM to develop strategies to respond to emerging healthcare trends that represent opportunities or risks to Averas revenue cycle performance.
- Responsible for ensuring all directreport leadership team members are developing a highperforming company culture aligned to Averas mission vision values and best practice processes.
- Collaborate with facility CEOs and service line leaders on Avera Heaths strategic initiatives to gain buy in enhance collaboration and shared vision for the future of Patient Access and Revenue Integrity.
- Utilize key performance indicators and bestpractice benchmarking to identify opportunities to improve validate make recommendations and course correct in order to stay aligned with Avera and Revenue Cycles strategic plan; support standardized and transparent reporting of performance in departments in scope of responsibilities across the system
- Inspires efforts to improve key performance indicators in all areas of responsibility reducing downstream denials and improving the patient financial experience.
- Represents departments within scope of responsibility and at times all of Revenue Cycle amongst various audiences. This can include being an active member of multidisciplinary committees that support operational developments and contributes to broader organizational success and be instrumental in building relationships with external stakeholders.
- Establishes annual financial goals and actively uses benchmarking to high performing systems in similar area of expertise to set annual targets.
- Monitors and analyzes financial data and utilizes for decisions regarding FTEs staffing and operational budget. Directs and provides guidance to direct report leaders to effectively allocate resources based on patient volume space availability budget constraints and program priorities goals and objectives. Fosters strong relationships with external stakeholders such as payers vendors government entities and industry associations.
- Responsibilities include interviewing hiring developing training and retaining employees; planning assigning and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Bachelors
- 79 years Patient Access and/or Revenue Cycle experience in the healthcare environment.
