STATUS: Fulltime 40 hours/week Exempt

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Human Resource Generalist will support the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including recruitment and onboarding; pay benefits and leave administration; COVID19 management; employee relations; and enforcing company policies and practices. We are looking to employ an HR Generalist with outstanding written verbal and interpersonal communication skills. The HR Generalist will know HR Laws to current policies and procedures draft templates for HR documents; and work with other department members to oversee a smooth employee lifecycle. This person will have excellent administrative and IT skills the ability to multitask and adapt in a fastpaced environment and strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.


WHAT YOULL DO:

  • Recruits interviews and facilitates hiring qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background and reference checks and employment eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation benefits and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity recognition and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Administers health and benefits plans including enrollments changes and termination. Process required documents through payroll benefits broker and insurance providers to ensure accurate recordkeeping and proper deductions.
  • Reconciles benefits statements and conducts payroll and benefits audits.
  • Oversees the weekly timecard approval process to ensure timely and accurate approval and submission of time cards; resolves issues with timecards; and deliver clean timecards to the finance team for payroll.
  • Handles employmentrelated inquiries from applicants employees and supervisors referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in some employee disciplinary meetings terminations and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends best practices regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources talent management and employment law.
  • Reviews tracks and documents compliance with mandatory and nonmandatory training continuing education and work assessments. This may include safety training antiharassment training professional licensure and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Generates official internal documents such as offer letters memos policies etc.
  • Collaborates with outside vendors upper management and employees to maintain a positive supportive and compliant work environment
  • Supports the employee performance evaluation and compensation processes
  • Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws and update policies and/or procedures as required
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the program and organization.


Requirements

SKILLS YOULL NEED:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the human resources field
  • Understanding of state and federal employment regulations
  • Understanding of personnel and compliance records management
  • Effective HR administration and people management skills.
  • Exposure to payroll practices.
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email MS Office Google Suites and related business and communication tools.
  • Fantastic organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong decisionmaking and problemsolving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

BACKGROUND YOULL NEED:

  • A bachelors degree in HR business or a related field is preferred.
  • 23 years of experience in Human Resources is required.
  • 23 years of working knowledge of labor laws is required.
  • Additional HR training or certifications is a preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills interpersonal skills ethics and cultural awareness
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Changes in the environment such as the office or outdoors.
  • Physical effort/lifting such as sedentary up to 1520 pounds at times.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

Mandated Reporting Requirements: The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21 2017 as a condition of employment.


COVID19 Vaccination Requirements: Effective August 9 2021 the State Health Officer has mandated that all workers paid or unpaid in homeless services organizations must provide proof of vaccination. If eligible for a booster shot proof of booster is also required. If not fully vaccinated weekly COVID19 testing is necessary depending on the program. Driver Positions:

Applicants are required to provide a copy of their driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles along with a copy of their valid drivers license and proof of insurance. Job offers are contingent upon a satisfactory driving record. Examples of an unsatisfactory driving record include:

  • Suspended or revoked license
  • Three or more moving violations in the past 36 months
  • Any violations including alcohol controlled substances within the past 24 months
  • Reckless driving including hit and runs within the past 24 months
  • At fault accidents resulting in fatality or serious injury within the past 5 years
