GROUNDSKEEPER JOB DESCRIPTION

EDWARDSVILLE COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT #7

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintenance of grounds
2. Cuts and maintains grass
3. Trim prune and spray bushes/trees/shrubs
4. Trims and edges
5. Maintains and repairs irrigation system
6. Performs landscaping
7. Applies pesticides fertilizer and other chemicals
8. Prepares and marks athletic fields
9. Maintains sidewalks and parking lots including sealing painting and marking patching and repairs
10. Snow removal
11. Regularly services and maintains vehicles and equipment
12. Repairs and replaces signage/fences
13. Any and all other duties assigned by a Supervisor regardless of whether or not such duties are included in this job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Superior work habits and ethics self motivates
2. Ability to work well with administration students faculty and staff
3. Ability to work independently and ensure timely completion of work orders
4. Ability to perform all duties of the position
5. Has passed pesticide examine and can do right of ways ornamental and turfgrass spraying

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Lifting pulling pushing and moving items (some in excess of 100 pounds) on an occasional basis
2. Lifting pulling pushing and moving items 20 to 40 pounds) on a regular and repetitive basis
3. Emptying trash cans and carts on a regular and repetitive basis (between 5 and 40 pounds)
4. Carrying/moving scrub buckets containing up to 3 gallons of water 24 pounds)
5. Reaching on a regular and repetitive basis over head and below knees
6. Stooping kneeling bending action on a regular and repetitive basis
7. Cleaning restroom surfaces on a daily/regular basis requiring stooping kneeling bending and hand scrubbing of all surfaces
8. All tasks require extensive use of hands including repetitive gripping grasping lifting manipulation of tools etc. and the ability to ambulate independently and lift significant weight and sized items
9. Operate tractors riding lawn mowers and all other equipment necessary to perform the job duties
