Position Overview:

The Data Governance Officer is a key member of the Aegon Asset Management Data Office reporting to the Chief Data Officer. The team consists of first line of defense Data Governance Quality and Privacy officers whose vision is to ensure Enterprise Data is well understood trusted and prioritized for use and remediation. Our mission is to ensure data assets are well governed and protected throughout their lifecycle. We put in place frameworks policy standards and training to enable this.

Specializing in Data Governance tooling the Data Governance Officer provides expertise in embedding data governance in global corporate environments leveraging tooling to make it effective. They play a critical role responsible for overseeing coordinating and managing adoption and use of tooling to improve Data Governance KPIs. In doing so they contribute to delivering the business and IT change necessary to become a datadriven Asset Manager.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Data Governance:

  • Establish and maintain written global frameworks and procedures to comply with data policy and standards
  • Work with business and IT stakeholders to operationalize these policies and frameworks leveraging tooling where available to coordinate and support
  • Work with technology services on the configuration and availability of the tooling for use within business
  • Provide management oversight on the data governance activities of the organization and seek decisions from governance committees to alter or strengthen its position
  • Chair working groups with business and IT stakeholders to facilitate questions/feedback/decisions on data governance topics
  • Embed data governance in change initiatives such that data is a key consideration and there are appropriate deliverables defined
  • Safeguard data integrity security and compliance

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with data stakeholders across business and IT to deliver operational data governance
  • Design develop and implement metrics reports and/ dashboards to provide oversight and insight into key activities and drive key business decisions
  • Plan & facilitate ongoing communication and training with stakeholders on key data governance activities
  • Develop training materials to support the onboarding and adoption of the datarelated initiatives in BAU

Technical Know How:

  • Leverage technologies and platforms to effect data governance by design
  • Experienced in automating workflows notifications and reporting and dashboards

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business (Finance Accounting Analytics) or equivalent experience
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in data management and data governance (typically eight or more years)
  • Understanding of data management industry frameworks principles and practices
  • Proficient applying technologies to data management (e.g. Alation Power Query MSBI SQL server)
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Experienced automating workflows notifications reporting and dashboards
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills to present information and influence stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel PowerPoint BI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferably some experience within a corporate working environment
  • Experience working in the financial industry is a plus
