Job Description
ROLE: Individual will coordinate daily news coverage for broadcast digital platforms and the stations new streaming app. The ideal candidate will balance traditional assignment desk duties with content creation producing digitalonly segments and shows and helping shape the stations new streaming presence in alignment with the FOX 5/KUSI brand.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize and assign stories for broadcast digital platforms and streaming app
- Coordinate and dispatch field crews to breaking and scheduled news events
- Monitor scanners wires news releases emails and social media for story leads
- Pitch write set up and produce original content and recurring segments for streaming app
- Plan and produce live or recorded digitalexclusive content (e.g. interviews explainers behindthescenes)
- Assist with development planning and followup of news stories for all platforms
- Keep the newsroom informed of breaking news and developing stories throughout the day
- Communicate with Nexstar affiliates FOX News Edge and content partners for story sharing and collaboration
- Develop compelling brandaligned content to maximize engagement on all platforms
- Answer phones vet story tips and maintain daily news logs
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors Degree in Journalism Communications or related field preferred
- Minimum 3years experience in a top 50 market newsroom
- Experience with digital content production (writing video editing producing) preferred
- Familiarity with the San Diego region is a plus
- Understanding of multiplatform news strategies audience engagement trends

- Strong editorial judgment and ability to identify compelling audiencefocused stories
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to make quick decisions and remain calm under pressure
- Must be comfortable taking a leadership role while collaborating across teams
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to a fastpaced evolving news environment
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends holidays and overnights as needed
- Comp starting $28.85/hr commensurate with experience and skill level
