Job Description
The School District of Clayton is seeking a Spanish teacher for theschool year. The successful candidate will be academically talented fluent in Spanish and proficient in English wellversed in K12 world language pedagogy and knowledgeable and skilled in differentiated instruction.

The Successful Candidate:
- Is knowledgeable about the comprehensible input approach to teaching as well as other proficiency based approaches to language teaching.
- Is able to embed grammatical structures into language instruction to help students build a strong foundation in language.
- Is knowledgeable about high school middle school and elementary philosophy and the developmental needs of students and will be able to present the curriculum using an empowered learning approach.
- Demonstrates appropriate long and shortterm preparation for classroom instruction.
- Holds high expectations for all students and serves as a facilitator of student learning.
- Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques strategies materials and technology to maximize the learning of each child individually and in group settings.
- Assesses student progress provides students and parents with specific feedback and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed.
- Provides opportunities for academic support and challenge.
- Takes responsibility for teaching the District curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents.
- Demonstrates an understanding of how knowledge is created organized and linked to other disciplines and life experiences.
- Keeps abreast of current developments in the field and continues to deepen understanding of the discipline(s).
- Establishes and maintains a functional attractive orderly and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community.
Education: Bachelors Degree required. Major or Minor in content area required. Masters Degree preferred.
Certification: Missouri teacher certification with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
Experience: Preferred.
