World Cultures Teacher Job Description Meridian School Meridian School

Founded in 2011 Meridian School is a public tuitionfree charter school open to all students living in Williamson County. As a charter school we are a school of choice offering an inquirybased curriculum and continuum for the International Baccalaureate Program K12.

World Cultures Course Description

World Cultures is a yearlong course studying cultures of people in major world regions and their interactions with the geography they inhabit. Some examples of the instructional approaches used to examine these themes include discussion debate roleplaying lecture and individual and group projects.

Students will read both the major text and supplementary sources. They will refine many of the skills vital to success in future history and geography courses including the analysis of maps statistics and documents and the ability to express their analysis of events in writing. Summative assessments typically consist of projects papers and source analysis work.

  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students parents teachers and others
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for all learners
  • Ability to participate in and establish collaborative structures
  • Proven ability to develop successful academic programs
  • Willingness to collaborate regularly with colleagues in a positive constructive manner
Experience
  • At least two years of teaching experience in specific content area
Qualifications Education/Certification
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Work Environment

This position will operate in a professional nonsmoking office environment which at times can be busy with moderate noise and many unscheduled interruptions. This role will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers and peripherals phones photocopiers and filing cabinets.
