BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION

The Office of Inspections and Investigations is a part of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG). The mission of OIGI is to conduct inspections and investigations into allegations of wrongdoing and misconduct. The purpose of an investigation is to establish facts and provide sufficient evidence and analysis to determine whether a reported allegation of wrongdoing or misconduct has occurred and if so to allow WFP management to take action against the persons or entities responsible. OIGI investigations involve WFP personnel cooperating partners vendors and other parties.

This job is located in the Office of Inspections and Investigations in Rome Italy or in Nairobi Kenya and reports to OIGI investigator or Chief Investigations Officer Office of Inspections and Investigations or the designate. Travel to WFP Field Operations mainly to developing countries is possible.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Working arrangement: In person

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision and guidance of the Chief Investigations Officer or designate the intern will be required to support OIGI investigators in the conduct of their investigative tasks in a manner consistent with applicable policies deadlines and deliverables. Assigned tasks and responsibilities will normally include several of the following elements:

Assist Investigators with the review and/or analysis of evidence and prepare summaries;

Assist Investigators with the investigative recordkeeping;

Conduct open search research online and/or in WFP databases to support the work of Investigators;

Draft clear and concise summaries notes to file and/or contribute to the drafting of portions of more complex documents such as investigation plans reports or memoranda;

Support Investigators with the finalisation of investigation reports e.g. with respect to exhibit preparation or verification or quality assurance;

Contributing to other investigative activities supporting OIGIs overall mandate and activities.

SUPERVISION

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Investigations Officer or designate.

Throughout their assignment the intern have access to an industry leading learning platform weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars as appropriate.
