Salary:
School year rate for current Bilingual Parent Liaison employees; $31.00/hr for nonBilingual Parent Liaison employees.
Organizational Relationship
or Line of Authority:
Directly responsible to the Summer ESY Coordinator and/or the Director of MultiTiered Systems of Support and/or his/her designee
Statement of Duties:
Within Assigned School:
- Translate written documents as needed
- Make/take phone calls to/from Spanishspeaking families as needed by school personnel
- Interpret during a variety of school meetings including: report card conferences discipline special education IEP meetings new student/family orientation meetings speech and language evaluations among others
- Develop and maintain constructive and trusting relationships with families and staff
- Represent the school professionally and courteously
Districtwide responsibilities:
- Regularly utilize district Google scheduling calendar for all meetings appointments etc.
- Interpret at outofdistrict IEP/Special Education meetings on a rotating basis with other liaisons
- Translate districtwide department paperwork on a rotating basis with other liaisons
- Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate parent/school needs with regard to attending meetings
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills
- Relates well to people of all ethnic groups
- Ability to speak multiple languages preferred
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills
- Must be trustworthy and dependable
Requirements:
- Possess an Associates Degree or higherpreferred.
- Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)required.
- Must have excellent verbal and written processing skills.
- Competent English and Spanish literacy skills.
- Must have strong written skills in another language.
- Must have good organization and time management skills.
- Must have skills necessary to engage and work with others from diverse ethnic and cultural groups.
- Must be able to relate positively with others as evidenced by evaluations and/or references.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
