AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. The Enterprise Network Engineering team is looking for a highly experienced Wireless Network Engineer to architect and design for Amazons internal facilities around the globe. This position will collaborate with a team of likeminded engineers located in different regions around the world to design and shape the future of data networks at Amazon.


Key job responsibilities
Wireless Network Development Engineers perform high quality network and/or systems operations deployments scaling technology refresh sustaining engineering best practices application optimization internal/external customer interactions and produce appropriate technical documentation.
Design and build innovative multivendor data connectivity solutions to support Amazons growth worldwide.
Drive scaling current network designs to meet the demand of our customers
Work with vendors and crossfunctional teams for ongoing design efforts and systems support.
Work closely with our internal customers to help alleviate their problems and ensure our network continues to meet their demands
Drive operational excellence projects to drive improvements in our network quality and reliability
Work closely with our teams to assist in defining the tools we require
Create simple processes that help operate and build our network


A day in the life
Engineers in the Enterprise Network Engineering (BERE) organization have a wide range
of responsibilities: we work with internal partners to develop and implement the next gen platforms
along with the tooling ecosystems to support with these platforms driving efficiency and scalability
through the automation of builds configuration deployment and the scaling of capacity. As our
network is one of the largest in the world there is no blue print at our scale allowing our engineers to
develop solutions to the complex challenges that we face daily. We encourage durable solutions that
look around corners while taking into consideration our customer needs from a cost performance and
reliability perspective. Our team develops tooling that provides the required visibility and control of
traffic across the network while prioritizing the automatic mitigation of events to minimize the impact
to our customers during events.
Work in a 24x7 team on call rotation with ability to drive into workplace for critical events/needs.
Manage customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
Sit at the computer during scheduled work hours with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail.
Travel to data center/network sites and Amazon/customer offices as needed.


About the team
Within AWS Networking the Enterprise Networking Engineering (ENE) organization is
responsible for the design implementation and operations of a wide array of networking infrastructure
that provide global connectivity between all AWS Regions and edge locations.
BERE provides the massive scale required to support our AWS customers and internal services via a
network that grows by 70 annually. In addition they have teams that are responsible for the design
and operation of our global corporate office and data center network allowing tens of thousands of
Amazonians to perform their daily tasks in support of our customers.

4 years experience and knowledge of at least one vendors Wireless hardware Access Points Wireless Controllers or Wireless client bridge and IEEE .11 standards including .11n .11ac and .11ax
1 years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming.

Knowledge of wireless security .1x RADIUS WPA2 EAPTLS PSK general PKI concepts
Knowledge of RF /Survey RF Planning and Optimization.
Experience with 3G/4G/WiMax a plus
Aruba ACDX or CCIE Wireless a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
