POSITION: Elementary Paraeducator Lead Mentor

Various Elementary Sites

EFFECTIVE DATE:School Year

SALARY: $2500 Stipend $250/month Aug May)

SCHEDULE: August 2025 May 2026

QUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

  • Must be a current PSD Instructional Paraeducator at an elementary school
  • Must have an Advanced Paraeducator Certificate (or have met requirements to obtain)
  • 5 years of successful experience as an instructional paraeducator
  • Current school administrator endorsement/recommendation
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional cooperative working relationships
  • Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record
  • Willingness to attend training sessions outside of contracted days (possible time in August)

DUTIES:

  • Coordinate mentors to support WSU Teaching Bridge program students including mentor placement and mentorassistance.
  • Coordinate mentor training session
  • Serve as the liaison between district mentors WSU and WSU students in the Teaching Bridge Program
  • Mentor and trainYear 1 and Year 2 WSU Bridge Students(enrolled at WSU as future teachers). The students will work up to 13 hours a week on Tuesdays/Thursdays throughout the school year. Each student is assigned a school in which they eventually work towards being a paraeducator substitute. The mentor is responsible for coordinating the orientation of the student into this role and being the point of contact throughout the school year. The first six weeks of school are shadowing para educators to learn the various roles and responsibilities. The coordination and scheduling of the WSU student will be part of the overall responsibilities of the mentor.
