Summary: Under general direction incumbent(s) oversees the KidSpace (extended day) 21st Century Community Learning Center and other afterschool programs including supervising departmental staff developing activities and services managing budget evaluating program needs and complying with grant requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and oversees implementation of community programs includingKidSpace (extended day) 21st Century Community Learning Center and other afterschool programs. Researches needs and evaluates effectiveness of current programs to ensure community programs meet those needs.
- Supervises departmental staff including determining workloads establishing work schedules monitoring work performance recommending new hires and terminations training on accounting procedures providing staff development programs conducting performance evaluations resolving staff conflicts and interpreting and implementing policies and procedures.
- Develops and oversees budget functions associated with community programs includingKidSpace (extended day) 21st Century Community Learning Center and other afterschool programs. Collaborates with Community Programs Finance Coordinator to ensure Districts budgeting process and community program guidelines are being adhered to.
- Serves as a liaison to coordinate community programs with all ancillary agencies. Collaborates with schools and departments to deliver services to students and families..
- Ensures that community programs are in compliance with District policies and procedures and federal state city and agency regulations. Ensures all reporting is accurate and submits reports to fulfill appropriate requirements.
- Trains staff on community program objectives educational models District policies and procedures appropriate laws and regulations budgetary operations etc. Provides professional development opportunities to staff to remain current on program.
- Researches educational models and programs. Determines and implements appropriate models for each community program. Develops handbooks for appropriate programs to include program procedures and project management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
- Bachelors degree in Education Early Childhood Recreation or related field;
- Two years of supervisory experience;
- Three years of coordinating afterschool programs;
- Valid Arizona Department of Transportation drivers license.
Preferred Qualifications:
It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
- Masters degree in Education Early Childhood Recreation or related field;
- Valid Arizona Department of Education Teaching Certificate.
