Job Description


MMI Engineered Solutions is currently seeking a Material Technician to join our Team. Headquartered in Saline Michigan. MMI Engineered Solutions has offices in Troy Warren and Monterrey Mexico. Essential Functions

  • Understand what BOMs/Items are running on each of the work centers and ensure that all materials needed to keep the work centers running are available over the course of the job duration. This includes proper use of regrind when and if acceptable for this job.
  • This position must work with the setup team (Supervisor Mold Setter and Material Technician) to understand what jobs are coming up in the schedule and timing of those jobs. They need to verify that all the materials are available for this job and that the materials are staged and ready on time.
  • Proper removal identification cleaning and storage of all remaining material after the jobs are complete. This includes the cleaning and preparation of the work center before the next job is setup.
  • Work with Shift Supervisor to prepare for next jobs on all work centers.
    • Verify material is available.
    • Ensure material is in dryer and/or dried on time.
    • Ensure proper regrind is available if applicable.
    • Staging of all raw materials needed at the work center.
    • Includes Raw Materials Purchase Components and WIP.
    • Fill color feeders
  • Ensure work center is properly setup for next job after current job is completed.
    • Empty & Clean hoppers at Press
    • Empty & Clean hopper / dryers
    • Clean Material Line feeds between jobs if necessary
    • Setup appropriate Grinder at work center if needed. Recycle into current job running when possible
    • Removal and proper storage of materials (all materials including packaging etc.. Weigh apply new label scan into IQMS and return to proper storage location.
    • Collect s and purge material from work centers and move to proper s location labeled properly before moving.
    • Box bag bucket and barrels. Make sure all are labeled correctly with the correct material and covered to prevent contamination. Ensure location and lot number are correct.
    • Mixes batches and /or blends material for production
    • Maintain Raw Material area. Keep clean and organized.
    • Coordinate work center issues that prevent material handling functions with supervisor and maintenance.
    • Grind any and all s not being ground at press side without contaminating it. Label and store material properly.
    • Unload material from truck upon arrival verify contents of packing slip and turn into Receiving.
    • Cycle counts raw materials and packaging supplies. Assists in Inventory Control.
    • Help support operator breaks and lunches.
    • Other tasks assigned by Supervisor
    • Regular & prompt attendance at work
    • Interacting with clients & coworkers; professional & respectful.
    • Overtime and rotating shift where applicable

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the injection molding industry with proven experience in material handling and a good understanding of raw materials (resins).
  • A selfstarter with a history of showing initiative in getting things done and anticipating what needs to get done.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proven communicational skills both written and oral.
  • Candidates must be able to lift 60 pounds.
  • Demonstrated experience with production part retrieval/lot number verification
  • Proven understanding of material flow/handling
  • Experience with raw materials cycle counts/inventory
  • Documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand written instructions.
  • Proven ability to work with others to accomplish goals.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and the ability to apply it in a work situation.
  • Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets word processing database and other applicable software programs
