In an effort to support K5 EL students in maintaining and growing their language development
Wellesley Public Schools (WPS) will offer an inperson summer learning program. The goal is to sustain students language learning and mitigate potential summer learning loss.
This is a WPS summer program for currently enrolled K5 EL students. The EL Summer
Teacher will be responsible for implementing lessons using the EL Departments Reach curriculum which will be provided. The position reports to the Director of Multilingual and Director of DEI.
- 6 hours of preparation prior to summer school starting.
- EL Summer Program runs from July:00 am 12:00 pm Monday Thursday.
- 2 hours of preparation weekly during the summer program.
Job Requirements:
- Collaborate with the Director of Multilingual Education PK5 Department Heads in ELA Math Science and Social Studies and EL Summer Program Administrator to discuss criteria for student summer learning selections and review the Reach curriculum for the summer program.
- Collaborate with the EL Summer Program Administrator and EL program teachers to deliver the summer instructional program.
- Implement technology when appropriate and needed for planning programming and support.
- Take and track student attendance in collaboration with the EL Program Administrator.
- Communicate with EL families on general summer school progress of their students.
- Provide updates to the Summer EL Program Administrator Director of Multilingual Learners Director of DEI and Building Principals.
- Upon the completion of the EL Summer Learning Program: Provide attendance data to the EL Summer Program Administrator Director of Multilingual Learners and Director of DEI as well as an attendance report to Department Heads and Building Principals.
- All other duties as assigned by the EL Summer Program Administrator Director of Multilingual Learners and Director of DEI.

Compensation:
- Unit A: Compensation will be provided at the staff members hourly rate but not to exceed Masters 8 $71.07/hour). Any preparation time incurred prior to July 1 will be compensated at the applicable FY25 rate not exceeding Masters 8 $68.99/hour).
- Unit C: Compensation will be provided at the FY25 Wage Scale.
