ABOUT THE POSITION
The Admissions & Release Committee (ARC) District Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact for districtwide Admissions & Release Committee (ARC) meeting preparation documentation and followup. The ARC District Coordinator will provide technical assistance and professional development training in the implementation of the Kentucky Administrative Regulations the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The ARC District Coordinator will provide direction and support to staff students guardians and other stakeholders while ensuring compliance with state and federal Special Education regulations.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires:
- Masters Degree in Education.
- Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate in Special Education.
- Endorsement for Educational Consultant in Special Education.
- Four 4 years of successful teaching experience in special education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are listed for reference. Success will involve the ongoing demonstration of desire and ability to perform responsibilities effectively efficiently pleasantly and with a focus on student success.
- Assist the Director and Assistant Director of Special Education in the development and implementation of Board Policies and Procedures as related to special education.
- Schedule ARCs according to Policy and Procedures and timelines.
- Chair annual review transfer eligibility and reevaluation ARCs.
- Cochair ARCs as designated.
- Assist staff parents etc. in referral procedures including chairing a committee designated to assist staff in interventions and strategies prior to a referral to special education collecting required information prior to ARC to discuss referral (updated screenings documentation of interventions etc..
- Assist staff with interventions and strategies in behavior management (i.e. classroom management programs individual behavior management programs conducting a Functional Behavioral Assessment deescalation strategies Safe Physical Management etc..
- Collect data at the school level consisting of number of referrals effectiveness of special education programs etc.
- Provide inservice to staff on special education issues including due process eligibility specific areas of disabilities etc.
- Assist with scheduling of special education students.
- Complete due process forms correctly and accurately.
- Perform other duties as specified by the supervisor.
- Complete written documentation in a timely manner.
- Carry out other professional responsibilities including punctuality reliability care of equipment and materials planning communication confidentiality and following district and school policies.
- Ability to use technology for a variety of purposes including but not limited to supporting instruction accessing and manipulating data professional growth and productivity communicating and collaborating with colleagues parents and the community and conducting research/solving problems. Proficiency in technology skills must be demonstrated based on the performance criteria set out in the KDE teacher standards for technology.
- Strict adherence to the Policies and Procedures of the Boyle County Board of Education the Employee Handbook Code of Ethics for Certified School Personnel and Kentucky Revised Statutes.
- Fulfilling contractual obligations of days worked.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Students during assessments or small groups. Ensures accuracy by other members of the multidisciplinary team.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Regularly required to use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulatives.
- Regularly required to communicate effectively using speech vision and hearing.
- Frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
- Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
