Job Title: Inclusion Instructional Aide
Reports To: Principal
Position Summary:
The Inclusion Instructional Aide assists special education students individually or in small groups in achieving their learning goals. The role supports teachers by preparing materials assisting with classroom tasks and ensuring a positive learning environment for all students. This position involves direct support for students with diverse needs including physical behavioral and academic challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support: Assist teachers by providing direct support to students in individual or group settings aiding in the completion of learning tasks.
Supervision: Supervise students during various activities including recess lunch field trips assemblies and classroom work.
Class Coverage: Step in to lead or assist in classrooms during the teachers absence (meetings parent conferences emergencies etc..
Material Preparation: Prepare and organize classroom materials including worksheets notes and other necessary supplies. Assist with classroom cleanup.
Record Keeping: Maintain student records including attendance field trip documentation student files and grading.
Student Assistance: Support students with makeup work assignments and learning tasks as directed by the teacher.
Collaboration with Specialists: Work closely with physical and occupational therapists speechlanguage pathologists and other specialists to ensure holistic student support.
Behavior Tracking: Record and report any behavioral concerns or incidents following established protocols.
Health & Safety: Administer first aid to injured or sick students until the school nurse can assume responsibility. Provide physical assistance to students with mobility challenges including support with restroom needs and bus transportation.
Additional Tasks: Assist substitute teachers in managing the classroom prepare correspondence and perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or principal.
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma required; 12 years of experience in a related field preferred.
Equivalent education or experience that provides the necessary knowledge skills and abilities.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and move objects as necessary. Frequent standing and walking are required.
Supervision & Instruction: Ability to lead and assist students with tasks provide instructions and help with classroom management.
Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic including addition subtraction multiplication division and the ability to calculate percentages and decimals.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with students parents teachers and other school staff.
Organizational Skills: Ability to prepare and organize educational materials maintain accurate records and manage classroom tasks efficiently.
Technology: Proficiency with basic office equipment (computers copiers fax machines etc. and educational tools.
Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of sensitive student information and adhere to privacy guidelines.
Adaptability: Ability to work in both classroom and office environments remaining flexible and responsive to the needs of the students and staff.
Part-Time
