Job Summary

The Lead Line Cook plays a key leadership role in daytoday kitchen operations managing a specific station while mentoring other line cooks. This position supports the Sous Chef and Executive Chef by ensuring food is prepared efficiently safely and consistently to recipe specifications. The ideal candidate is highly skilled organized and comfortable working in a fastpaced kitchen.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items at assigned stations according to established recipes and standards.
  • Lead and support the line during busy service periods.
  • Train and mentor line cooks and prep cooks in technique speed and food quality.
  • Ensure food is cooked and plated properly with attention to portioning presentation and temperature.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness sanitation and food safety compliance at assigned station.
  • Assist with inventory checks prep lists and ordering needs.
  • Communicate effectively with frontofhouse and culinary leadership to ensure smooth service.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for long periods bend stoop reach and lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to work in hot fastpaced kitchen environments.
  • Frequent use of hands arms and kitchen tools in food preparation.
  • Must be able to safely operate kitchen equipment and handle hot or sharp items.

Pay Transparency (California SB 1162 Compliance)

This position is expected to pay within the range of $18$22 per hour depending on experience qualifications and location. This range reflects the base pay for this role and does not include other compensation or benefits.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years of line cook experience in a fine dining or upscale kitchen.
  • Advanced knowledge of cooking techniques knife skills and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency.
  • Strong leadership organization and communication skills.
  • Food Handlers Certification (obtain prior to start date)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a lead trainer or supervisor in a culinary setting.
  • Experience with fine dining techniques and Mediterranean cuisine.
  • Culinary degree or professional training a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly desirable.
