Join Pratt & Whitneys Mechanical Systems & Externals Engineering team as a Lead Technical Drafter and play a crucial role in shaping cuttingedge solutions for military programs. In this dynamic position youll provide expert technical and operational product definition while supporting innovative design efforts that drive defense engineering forward. What You Will Do:
- Perform substantially varied and highly complex tasks including 3D modeling skills and graphical product definition; creation of 3D models to support design; With minimal guidance from Design and PD Leads perform general design tasks including support of parametric CICR content tolerance stackups and input of engineering standard work.
- Create ModelBased Definition with tolerancing per ASME Y14.5/PWA79460. Apply and interpret geometric form control for manufacturing and inspection. Apply dimensional stackup techniques including ASME Y14.5 influences. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals. Apply and understand key concepts of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Unigraphics/NX and Teamcenter/NX Manager.
- Selfcheck own work to ensure accuracy and adherence to Product Definition Standard Processes in the communication of Design Intent which includes the ability to apply and interpret Geometric Form Control to ASME Y14.5M standards; Create errorfree parametric 3D models and other definition files to meet Design intent and Product Definition standard work using the UGS NX graphics software; Selfcheck model/tolerance files (using the UGS NX graphics software) meeting Product Definition standard work which includes the application of tolerancing techniques per part family Engineering Standard Work and must consider manufacturability and inspection considerations.
- Assist in orienting training assigning and checking the work of other employees.
- Act as a goto resource for resolving complex issues and escalate only the most challenging problems to higher levels.
- Travel up to 10 (Domestic).
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Associates degree (or other 2year posthigh school training) with 8 years ofrelevant experience in design or product definition.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. governmentissued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Associates Degree in a related field i.e. Drafting/Design Technology.
- 3D Solid Modeling.
- Knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing or Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing professional certification GDTP Y14.5.
- General Manufacturing Processes.
- Familiarity with bearing compartments and gear drive systems externals engine fuel lube and air system hardware.

Department/Segment Overview: Mechanical Systems Externals and Nacelles Engineering organization is responsible for the design development and in service support of power transmission systems bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis oil and thermal management systems engine externals packaging and architecture as well as nacelles for commercial and military engine models. Technical disciplines include Project Engineering Mechanical Design Structural Analysis Product Definition System Modeling Mechanical Design analysis for bearings gears and seals and fluidthermal modeling of associated components and systems.

- Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles commuting to and from the assigned site is the employees personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 56000 USD 112000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
