Westwood Professional Services Inc. isseeking a detailoriented and proactive Legal Specialist to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal principles and procedures with a particular focus on contract management and compliance. This role involves supporting the legal department in various capacities including drafting reviewing and managing contracts as well as providing general legal support to ensure the company always operates within the law.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Licensing Support:
- Support the legal team in managing business registrations and licenses which may include Secretary of State renewals and amendments local/municipal business licenses and more.
- Manage relationships with registered agents outside counsel and other vendors.
- Assist in the preparation of legal documents correspondence and reports.
- Conduct legal research from various sources including statutes regulations codes bulletins FAQs and other sources; summarize legal issues as needed.
- Be an organized selfstarter capable of managing multiple priorities independently.
- Contract Support:
- Research and compile contracts for audit document production or other purposes.
- Review and analyze key contract provisions as needed.
- Maintain and update the contract management system ensuring all contracts are accurately recorded and easily accessible.
- Assist in the development and implementation of contract policies and procedures.
- Administrative Duties:
- Organize and maintain legal files and records.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings and trainings.
- Other legal projects as needed.
Required Experience
- Bachelors degree in law Legal Studies or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in a legal environment preferably with a focus on corporate/transactional.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail plus excellent project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
