Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters degree or higher from an accredited university with an emphasis in school psychology educational psychology or a related field preferred;
  2. Texas licensure as a licensed specialist in school psychology (L.S.S.P. already received or in the application process;
  3. Demonstrated skillset in leading motivating supporting and working collaboratively with others;
  4. Minimum of one year of experience providing psychological services in a school setting. This may include LSSP internship experience;
  5. Knowledge of Special Education service delivery.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract:197 days

SALARY:

$68326 (Licensed Psychologist PhD) pay grade IA5

$67321 (School Psychologist)$1000 for PhD) pay grade IA4

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Conduct individual group or facilitative counseling for both regular and special education students who have been referred for these services by appropriate school personnel.
  2. Maintain case records on all referred students.
  3. Confer with teachers and parents of students upon request.
  4. Provide consultation services to the teachers and supervisors of the adaptive behavior program.
  5. Assist parents of emotionally disturbed students through consultation and facilitation of various parent groups.
  6. Interprets school psychological services to school personnel and parents.
  7. Interfaces with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies.
  8. Attend staff professional and interagency meetings as requested.
  9. Assist with inservice training of school personnel as requested.
  10. Conduct appropriate research as requested.
  11. Assess referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices and followthrough referred cases to the termination.
  12. Attend Individual Education Plan (IEP) committeemeetings for emotionally disturbed students and other special education students when appropriate.
  13. Intervene with students in crises to successfully reduce the negative impact of stressful events.
  14. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Frequent districtwide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
