Summary:
The Zip Line Rides Operator assists with the daily operation of the zip line in a safe and efficient manner while promoting a positive atmosphere with riders. Duties include daily ongoing inspection of all zip line operating equipment giving safety presentations to zip riders at the beginning of each ride ensuring that passengers are in their seats properly and that each and every restraint is locked before the cart is dispatched. Attention to detail and adherence to all safety guidelines and policies is crucial to this role.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Fulltime positions are defined as positions scheduled to work approximately 40 hours a week. Scheduling is at the discretion of the manager. This position regularly requires flexible hours including weekdays holidays and weekends.
This position is considered nonexempt under the federal and state wage and hour laws.
Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job the employee primarily works outdoors on Zoo grounds. The work environment is fastpaced and may involve exposure to warmer or colder temperatures. Employees should be prepared to work in a busy moderately loud and dynamic setting.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The Ride Operator is responsible for operating the controls at the control console. The Ride Operator must sit directly in front of the control console. Operator must ensure they are able to reach the switches and are able to see all of the attendants passengers and queue gates.While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel handle or operate objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb balance stoop kneel crouch crawl and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
