Job Description

FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU) a state and landgrant institution of the University System of Georgia invites applications for the position of Assistant Womens Volleyball Coach.

Fort Valley State University the only 1890 landgrant university in Georgia is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County the original site of the states peach industry. Its 1365acre 5.52 km2 campus is Georgias secondlargest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the head coach responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in the evaluation and recruitment of prospective student athletes; training and development of players; scouting; team travel arrangements; scheduling; promotions and marketing; fundraising projects; and summer camps.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in evaluation and recruitment of prospective student athletes.
  • Assist in the training and development of players; scouting; and team travel arrangements.
  • Assist in scheduling promotions marketing fundraising projects and summer camps.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Two years coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level or above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in physical education or related field; Demonstrated coaching and/or collegiate playing experience in the NCAA Div. II Conference; and demonstrated experience recruiting student athletes.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to the University NCAA and SIAC Conference rules and regulations. Appointment subject to NCAA violation report clearance.
